"I naively started out on this trek thinking that

COMET
would help me learn how to use

technology better in my classroom.

That is such an
understatement!"

My Journey

At last I can rest.  It has been a long and hard journey, and now is the time to reflect on what has been accomplished.  This site, created as the culminating project for a San Diego State University masters in Educational Technology, represents two years of learning, creating, designing, and work.  It has not been a casual walk on the beach either.  Rather,  it has been a rigorous journey through challenging lands to harden my abilities in ways that I never imagined it would.  And it changed my outlook in ways I never imagined it could as well.

From Teacher to Instructional Designer
I naively started out on this trek thinking COMET would help me learn how to use technology better in my classroom.  That is such an understatement!  Of course I learned how to use technology better,  but I also became an educational technologist and instructional designer.  I became someone who can look at problems with performance, instruction, and society and systematically analyze them for causes and solutions.  If the world wants my solutions, I can elegantly design them and monitor them through to success.

My Trajectory

As for my own future, I can continue my growth as a dynamic technology teacher.  As master of my classroom, I can design educational programs for my own students that will challenge their thinking, and facilitate their growth as creators and designers.  Or maybe I will choose a totally new trajectory.   Perhaps, when the time is right, I will  launch a new career as a consultant, or business educator, software designer, or as a district training specialist.  Either way, I feel confident as I look into the future and continue my journey.
